Turner was a very talented draftsman and watercolorist. He left behind 300+ sketchbooks filled with watercolor and pencil sketches. His strengths were a very technical eye and a brilliant portrayal of light in his works. Below are some images of his work.
Looking at O'Keeffe's watercolor paintings, we will find inspiration in her natural subjects. O'Keeffe often expressed deep emotion through abstracted natural forms. You may find inspiration in her subject matter or in abstracting your own subject. We will look at Hopper's exploration of light with the use of washes and quick brushstrokes. Our subject matter theme will be, "Cities, Towns, and Country Roads" a central theme in Hopper's work.
